On October 23-24, the EV BATTERY RECYCLING & REUSE 2023 exhibition and conference was held in Frankfurt, Germany. It provides a platform for leading automotive and recycling companies to meet and explore initiatives for recycling and reusing waste batteries for the next generation of electric vehicle batteries.

The automotive industry is rapidly evolving and so is the production of lithium-ion batteries for use in electric vehicles. As previously developed batteries for electric vehicles approach end-of-life, it is now increasingly important to consider the economic, environmental, and strategic benefits of recycling and reusing end-of-life batteries and establishing a circular economy.

In his keynote speech, Tim Hotz, Principal at Roland Berger, provided an overview of the expected market development for battery recycling and reuse in Europe and North America, as well as the remaining key challenges that need to be addressed.
